Network Connectivity Many facilities only have 1 or 2 entrances/exits for fiber. This limits customer options and reduces overall uptime. BiEx has over 6 distinct concrete-encased entrance facilities (laterals). IP Connectivity - Over 20Gb/s of IP capacity blended between multiple Tier-1, Regional and Private Peering networks. This capacity can be delivered via Ethernet at 10, 100, 1000, and 10,000 Mb/s hand-offs as well as traditional telco connections like T-1, T-3, OC-3c, OC-12c and OC-48c. The entire network is protected by multiple, diverse paths, diverse routers and diverse connections meshed with BGP4 and MPLS to make routing packets to anywhere on the Internet nearly instantaneous. Telco Connectivity - Access to over 12 traditional telephone carriers including Verizon, Qwest, Cavalier, XO, and MCI. Peering Exchange Fabric BiEx gets its name from the Peering Fabric it houses. "The Exchange" is a high speed, multi-terabit switching complex that allows members of BiEx to exchange traffic with other members on a settlement-free or a settlement-plus basis. Members can exchange traditional IP traffic (IP, VoIP, IPTV), multicast to other members as well as exchange telephony, SAN and other traffic. Members need not physically locate their equipment within BiEx and can use any of the existing access methods to reach the "The Exchange." Additionally, BiEx offers flat-rate on-net laterals (including BiEx Exchange access) to any of over 200 buildings in the MD, DC and VA areas to further increase the access options.
